You'll tackle novel challenges, work closely with incredible partners and our rapidly growing community, and help us reinvent how data is managed online.

 

As Community Lead you will foster a highly engaged developer community that can become the hub for anyone interested in building a better web on top of shared data. You’ll create a constant energy in the community, with sharing, collaboration, cross-community support and discussion happening all the time. The community is a powerful attractor for new members and catalyst for new activity throughout the Ceramic and Web3 ecosystems. Community members will say "we" not "they" when talking about Ceramic, helping champion and forward Ceramic’s value.

Success looks like...

• You’ve turned the community into a driving force for growing, improving and guiding Ceramic's ecosystem, with dozens of active community leaders, hundreds of ambassadors, and thousands of engaged members.
• You’ve given contributors pathways to step up, amplify impact, and be seen as leaders through thoughtfully designed roles, recognition and rewards. Community members are active in helping new members, moderating forums, and advocating for Ceramic across the web.
• As our community scales from 10,000 to 100,000 developers, you evolve our tools and structures appropriately. As "PM of community" you deftly ensure changes are thoughtful, proactive and smoothly executed.
• You oversee our community platforms and programs, both online and offline. It’s clear to community members where to go and how to engage, doubling our member onboarding and retention success rates.
• Our monthly - and later weekly - events, spotlights, showcases, hackathons and other opportunities to gather the community are well-attended and energizing, and serve as a catalyst and attractor for more activity and members.
• Core community members are kept informed and mobilized every month, creating momentum (including during breaking updates to the protocol) that keeps us rapidly innovating and growing.

You're likely to succeed if you have...

• Experience building, growing and leading healthy and engaged communities
• Deep caring about community and how to foster it. You think about it, study it, and consider it an art and science
• A desire to empower other builders and ability to work closely with developers and a technical audience
• Involvement in Web3, open source, or other relevant ecosystems and resonance with our beliefs about impact through a movement
• Empathy for people, and an instinct for engaging all types of people and making them feel welcomed
• Understanding of how to design, scale and optimize community systems including tools, workflows, gatherings, and other structures
• Intrinsic motivation and the ability to keep iterating, innovating and striving for impact each day
• Belief in the power of community to create more than the sum of its parts
• Nice to have: engineering, product or operations experience; no-code, design or speaking skills; governance or system design experience

The Team

We are a lean, voraciously curious team from across the globe. We have 5 years of expert remote work experience and frequent (and awesome) team retreats to spend time together. We are impact-driven, intentional about our role, communications, and actions, and intensely focused on building quality tools for our open source community. We believe a better model for managing data online can give power back to users and builders, that this model is key to a growing movement, and that our team is a critical part of making that movement successful.
